£80.00 per year to non-BPL clients. 15% discount for all clients who have used BPL for proofreading.
Representation
BPL is not a literary agent and does not hold itself out to be so. However, we will represent clients to publishing companies to the
point of contractual agreement of sale of the manuscript. Thereafter, your own legal adviser should be engaged, if required.
Representation involves us in creating an appropriate package which will tempt a publisher into buying your work. A book will only be accepted if BPL has been involved in the appraisal and proof-reading stages and then only if the company’s board and editor believe it has a realistic chance of acceptance.
Fees for representation are dependent on how many publishers are approached. BPL produces a ‘package’ designed to showcase your work and attract attention.
Websites
Today, it’s almost a ‘given’ every author will have a website featuring elements of their work or works. A basic website is usually all that is needed, although if the author is involved in many activities besides writing books, this is not always the case. We can design and construct websites tailored to your needs, simple or complex, and arrange website hosting.
By quotation only.
Book Reviews
A book review is a critical examination of an author’s work. Whilst good reviews substantially help to sell books, BPL will not produce a favourable review if it isn’t merited. It will produce constructive criticism which should help the author in future. This applies, even where the author is paying for the service. However, the option to publish the review on the website accompanied by the books purchasing details remains with the author. This service is free only to books written in support of charities.
£ 2.10 per 1000 words plus an indexed webpage on the website
Authorspeak
Any author who does publish either online through the book test download, regular publishing or self-publishing will be invited to join Authorspeak. This is a free, interactive feature for those authors who wish to gain invitations to festivals and clubs and anywhere else where they might promote their book. After dinner speakers seem to be
particularly welcome. It is open to anyone wherever they may live in the world. This is an international website.
We found during the years of the old BPL website, authors although pursuing a lonely profession still have a care for their fellow man and womenkind and are a charitable lot. We opened our doors to any person who published a book in support of a charity, or visibly and actively supported any particular charity and was prepared to talk about it. We will continue to do so subject to a free book review by BPL. Previous beneficiaries of BPL's policy were charities concerned with strokes, poverty in Africa, worldwide paedophilia and domestic violence, deep sea diving fatalities and many more. This is an interactive feature and a photograph can be uploaded.
This is a free service for any author promoting a charitable cause, or their books who also supports charity.
Sell-your-book
This service was originally developed to enable students to band together and sell their surplus books inexpensively. Today anyone can use it. This is an interactive feature, where descriptive blurb, photograph and reviews can be uploaded.
Annual membership is £12.00 or 200 uploads. Any number of subscriptions can be taken out.
Writer’s Clubs
Clubs have their own webpage to list details of meetings, special interests, membership requirements and can list, free of charge, any events they may hold. After they can write an article about the occasion and upload photographs. Any dates listed automatically show in the diary and disappear after the event. When a club signs up, a notice of fee renewal will be sent out 14 days before it is due.
All clubs, £12.00 per annum.
